The Indiana University School of Medicine Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (formerly Psychosomatic Medicine) Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited one-year program that accepts up to two fellows per year. In this program, fellows are trained to provide outstanding psychiatric care to patients with complex medical and surgical conditions, both in inpatient and outpatient integrated/ collaborative care settings. This program nurtures a fellow’s professional development, enhancing skills in research, teaching and administration specific to each fellow’s unique goals.

Didactics
The Consultation-Liaison Program creates an environment for fellows to explore psychiatry as they delve further into their expertise. Fellows have the opportunity to participate in the Consultation-Liaison seminar, the Inter-Hospital Consultation-Liaison Case Conference, quarterly journal club and other optional protected seminars.
- One-hour weekly Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellows Seminar
- One-hour monthly Inter-Hospital Consultation-Liaison Case Conference
- Includes Consultation-Liaison colleagues from IU University Hospital, the VA Medical Center, Eskenazi Health, and Riley Hospital for Children discussing interesting and/ or challenging cases
- Four one-hour Journal Club meetings per year
- Other optional but encouraged and protected seminars include Addictions Symposium and the Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds
Integrated Care
The Consultation-Liaison Fellowship program partners with IU Health to bring the best integrated care to patients with comorbid and psychiatric medical conditions across the state of Indiana, as well as provide the best program experience for fellows. IU Health has invested in the Changing Health Outcomes through Integrated Care Excellence (CHOICE) program, designed to deliver integrated behavioral health in primary care settings and a core part of the Consultation-Liaison Fellowship. For six months, fellows will participate in the integrated care clinic one day per week. This experience will enable fellows to gain expertise in providing consultations in a busy primary care setting. Fellows will also have the opportunity to get involved in the teaching, administrative and research missions of the program.

Where are interviews held?Interviews are conducted in person in Indianapolis. Applicants are invited to arrive the day prior to their scheduled interview to join the faculty for a casual dinner. If traveling to Indianapolis is not feasible, it may be possible for applicants to interview at the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Annual Conference in November.

Does this program participate in ERAS?No. The Consultation-Liaison Fellowship Program at IU School of Medicine participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), not ERAS.
