Riley Hospital Outpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Join the compassionate team at the nationally recognized Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. We are seeking a board certified/board eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to fill an opening for an outpatient clinician and full-time clinical track Assistant or Associate Professor position with the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Providing diagnosis and treatment for children of all ages, the psychiatry and psychology specialties at Riley at IU Health partner with children and families to evaluate the circumstances and develop a treatment plan to address each children’s mental health needs. Our expert team includes child and adolescent psychiatrist, clinical child psychologists and psychiatric social workers.

Focusing on advanced, evidence-based evaluations and treatments, Riley psychiatric specialists provide expert care for psychiatric diagnoses and behavior problems. These evaluations and treatments include diagnostic evaluation, psychological testing, individual psychotherapy, family therapy and behavior modification and pharmacotherapy.

Key responsibilities:

• Faculty appointment includes supervision and teaching of medical students, interns and residents

• Evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in children, adolescents and adults

• Collaboration with treatment teams and serve as collaborating physician for NPs

• Participation in department committees

Position details:

• Work/life balance supported by standard Monday-Friday outpatient schedule

• Shared call coverage split among team of providers (10-15 nights/weekends annually)

• 90% child and adolescent patients / 10% adults

• Income guaranteed salary for two years, then switch to productivity model in third year

IU Health Methodist Hospital Inpatient Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine is looking for a hospital-based adult psychiatrist to join three psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary team at IU Health Methodist. Methodist hospital has 625 beds and is the largest teaching hospital in the state of Indiana. The hospital operates a 15-bed adult inpatient unit, an active consultation-liaison service, an emergency department service with a secured holding unit and a large ECT program. Academic rank and track are flexible depending on the experience and expertise of the candidate.

The position includes direct clinical care, teaching, supervision, administrative duties and a rich array of research opportunities. The hospital-based clinical services are an active site for IU School of Medicine medical students,  psychiatry residents, psychology interns and other learners. Creative thinking and collaboration with services within the academic health center and community organizations will be a crucial component of the role.

Candidates who enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team-based setting to deliver compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for individuals with mental illness are encouraged to apply. This is a direct patient care position that provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment of hospitalized patients and leads the coordination of care with members of the treatment team. Applicants must be eligible for an Indiana physician medical license and be board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry. Experience with hospital-based, acute care is desirable. Candidates must be comfortable managing hospitalized patients with severe mental illness and be able to interact with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds in a tactful and professional manner.

Adult Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a board eligible/ certified adult psychiatrist at the assistant/ associate professor level to provide direct clinical care to adults in the IU Health Neuroscience Center – Goodman Hall, Psychiatry Adult Outpatient Clinic. The faculty member will also supervise medical students and general psychiatry residents and have the opportunity to participate in research and other scholarly activity.

Addiction Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time clinical track Assistant or Associate Professor level position as Medical Director for our Addiction Services treatment team. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, advance practice providers and behavioral health clinicians who evaluate, diagnose, and treat individuals with substance use disorders. Other responsibilities will include collaboration with medical treatment teams, participation on department committees and supervision/teaching of Addiction Psychiatry fellows, residents, interns and medical students. Part of the IU Health system, the Addiction Services Program is housed at Methodist Hospital, one of the primary teaching hospitals for IU School of Medicine and the IU Health academic health center in downtown Indianapolis. The Department of Psychiatry has a broad research, clinical, and teaching mission and maintains both a general psychiatry residency and an ACGME-accredited Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship program. IU Health has recently opened three additional addiction treatment centers within a 50-mile radius of the academic health center as part of its commitment to serve individuals with substance use disorders.

Geriatric Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry at the IU School of Medicine, is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time clinical track Assistant or Associate Professor level position as Associate Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship program and Director of the Older Adult Psychiatry Clinic. Other responsibilities will include collaboration with medical treatment teams, participation on department committees, and supervision/teaching of Geriatric Psychiatry fellows, residents, interns and medical students. Part of the IU Health System, the Older Adult Psychiatry Clinic is housed at the IUH Neuroscience Center, located within the IUH Academic Health Center in downtown Indianapolis. The Department of Psychiatry has a broad research, clinical, and teaching mission and maintains both a general psychiatry residency and an ACGME-accredited Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship program.  Rich collaborations exist with a unique group of clinicians and scientists working in the treatment of late-life psychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, including faculty from the Departments of Medicine and Neurology, the federally funded Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Healthy Aging Brain Center, the Center for Neuroimaging, the Indianapolis VAMC, the Stark Neuroscience Research Institute and the Regenstrief Institute.

Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology

The Department of Psychiatry is now accepting applications for a one-year psychology postdoctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology. The purpose of the fellowship program is to train clinical health psychologists with a specialty in serving the diverse and complex population of medically ill patients treated at Indiana University Methodist Hospital and the Advanced Heart and Lung Care Clinic, which serve individuals across the state of Indiana and beyond. The clinical health psychology training in this program has an emphasis in cardiac-pulmonary behavioral medicine and transplant psychology. Fellows will have the opportunity to train in both outpatient and medical inpatient settings conducting both evaluation and intervention services. Pre-transplant evaluations, individual psychotherapy, consultation-liaison services and group therapy interventions are part of the clinical protocol. As part of the transplant program at IU Health, the fellow may have the opportunity to do a specialty rotation in abdominal/ solid organ transplant at University Hospital. In addition to these clinical experiences, fellows will also be involved in additional research experiences, as well as clinical supervision of pre-doctoral psychology interns or psychology practicum students. Opportunities for fellows to teach or supervise with the IU School of Medicine may be part of the training experience.

Clinical Psychologist/ Assistant Professor, Child Clinical/ Pediatric Psychology

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time clinical track assistant professor position in the area of Child Clinical/Pediatric Psychology. Candidates should possess a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology and be eligible for licensure and independent practice as a Health Service Provider in Psychology in the state of Indiana. Responsibilities will consist of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of children with a range of presenting problems, including ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, depressive disorders and adjustment to pediatric illnesses and conditions in an academic medical center/ child psychiatry clinic setting. The Department of Psychiatry is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time clinical track Assistant Professor position in the area of Adult Clinical/Health Psychology. Candidates should possess a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology and be eligible for licensure and independent practice as a Health Service Provider in Psychology in the State of Indiana.  Responsibilities will consist of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adults with a range of presenting problems in collaboration with medicine and psychiatry services in a large academic health center affiliated with Indiana University School of Medicine. Other responsibilities will include collaboration with medical treatment teams, participation on department committees, and supervision/teaching of residents, interns, and medical students. The Department of Psychiatry has a broad research, clinical, and teaching mission and maintains both a clinical psychology internship and psychiatry residency program, in addition to training rotations for medical and graduate students. Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship, Pediatric Pain

The Department of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine is now accepting applications for a one-two year (two preferred) postdoctoral fellowship position in pediatric pain psychology with a preferred start date in August or September 2021. This fellowship position is offered in collaboration with the Department of Psychology at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and the Department of Anesthesia at IU School of Medicine.

Fellow time is split (50/50) between clinical and research activities. Clinical training focuses on developing a specialized expertise in pediatric pain psychology through work in a multidisciplinary pain clinic at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. Fellows will have the opportunity to provide psychological evaluation and intervention services in the Pediatric Pain Center. Other clinical training opportunities may include biofeedback, pre-surgical evaluations and consultation liaison services for patients medically hospitalized for pain-related conditions or chronic pain rehabilitation. 

Research training will occur within the IUPUI Pain Research Laboratory. The research opportunities are varied and abundant, including clinical and laboratory-based research with children and adults. Fellows will collaborate with training directors to develop a research plan for the fellowship that incorporates the fellow’s interests and career goals. 
Opportunities exist for fellows to gain experience in teaching, supervision, program development and quality improvement projects.

Eligible applicants will have 1) a doctoral degree conferred from an APA accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, and 2) completed a pre-doctoral internship or anticipate completion prior to beginning of the fellowship. Experience in pediatric psychology, including pediatric pain, is preferred.
